FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions...
What is the process?
Freeze drying or “sublimation” is a process of extracting water without going through the liquid phase, which leaves the flowers with their original shape.
What is the difference between pressing and freeze drying?
Pressed can be either two dimensional on mat backgrounds or very flat almost painting like with flat. Freeze dried are three dimensional and mounted in shadowboxes, domed frames , tabletop domes or a variety of other enclosures.
How are the flowers treated?
Freeze dried are chemically treated both pre and post freeze drying. Pressed are processed in a drying cabinet, both are color enhanced, or you can choose to keep them natural by not color enhancing them.
Are there any flowers that don’t preserve well?
Some do better than others depending on the process and condition upon receipt. Recommendations can be made upon request.
When should I place my order?
Prior to wedding date is ideal , but a lot of clients call us after the wedding. This is not the best way but if the flowers are in good shape you can still achieve a beautiful keepsake.
What should I do with my flowers after my wedding?
VERY IMPORTANT NO FREEZER!! Keep them cool and hydrated. If they are hand tied, (wrapped in ribbon or no ribbon) at the reception put them in a vase of water. If they are in a holder (oasis foam is used to arrange and keep the flowers hydrated) pour a cup of water into the foam. A lot of florists today are using real stems wrapped around a holder, the stems are not actually attached to the flowers ,but are instead receiving their hydration through the oasis foam. Make sure you know where to give them water.
How should I get my flowers to you?
Call or email us to coordinate a time and date, drop off is by appointment only.
When do I need to pick out my frame?
The ideal is to pick everything out before your wedding, but you do have up to 45 days after we get your flowers to pick out your enclosure .The sooner you pick your enclosure the better for your flowers.
My wedding has already happened. What now?
It’s not too late. CALL ASAP. You only need to choose pressed vs. freeze dried and drop them off along with a $300 deposit(if no selection is made at that time).
How soon do you need my flowers?
Any where between 1-3 days after the event depending on the types of flowers you have and how well you are taking care of them . Don’t wait to call!
How long does it take?
That depends on the time of year and how quickly your frame is chosen will factor in as well. It’s a process that requires any where from 8-20 weeks.
How much does it cost?
It can be anywhere from $50-$900 or so depending the enclosure chosen. A $300 deposit is required if you are not sure what you are choosing at the time of drop off. The remaining balance is due when frame choice is made.
What forms of payments do you accept?
